Imagine starting with a tiny roadside trailer on the side of an Austin interstate and ending up with a line that stretches down the block every single day. That is the story of Franklin Barbecue, which began its journey back in 2009. Today, it is an iconic destination located at 900 East 11th Street.

Step inside, and you will find a simple dining room with cement floors and a corrugated metal ceiling. But do not let the simple decor fool you. Texas Monthly once called their food the best barbecue in the known universe.

They serve up incredible pork ribs, sausage, turkey, pulled pork, and their legendary brisket from Tuesday through Sunday, starting at 11 a.m. and going until they are completely sold out. They even take a well-deserved annual summer vacation in August to rest up.

Keep an eye out for those legendary lines, as it is a true Austin ritual.
