Look up at the teal, two-story building at 1511 East 6th Street, and you will spot a brick nine and four crowning its historic 1914 façade. Since 1948, this building has been home to Cisco's Restaurant Bakery & Bar, a cornerstone of East Austin food history. Founded by Rudy "Cisco" Cisneros, this family-run institution has spent over sixty years serving up legendary regional breakfast favorites like huevos rancheros and migas.
It is a cozy spot with a maximum event capacity of just one hundred and twenty-five people, but its impact on the city is massive. In 2019, the state officially designated Cisco's as a Texas Treasure Business. As you walk past, imagine the decades of early-morning laughter and sizzling plates that have filled this space, keeping Austin fed and happy through generations of change.
