On South Lamar, things are not always what they seem. If you walk past 1300 South Lamar Boulevard, you might see a storefront called Aikawa Tropical Tours. But do not try to book a flight there, as it is actually a clever cover.

The real entrance to Tiki Tatsu-Ya is hidden around the back of the building on Lamar Square Drive. Developed by Shion and Tatsu Aikawa, the creative minds behind Ramen Tatsu-Ya, this immersive two-story venue blends Japanese influences with classic tiki culture. Once you enter through the wooden porthole doors, you are transported to a fictional island paradise, complete with a cave-like entry and a two-story shisa dragon fountain.

They even have a recorded backstory playing over the speakers in the bathroom to complete the adventure. It is a masterclass in immersive dining, hidden right in plain sight.
