For nearly fifty years, a pioneering nonprofit arts organization in Austin has been shining a bright spotlight on contemporary art created by women. This is Women & Their Work, located at 1311 East Cesar Chavez Street. Established as a vital catalyst for female artists living and working in Texas and beyond, this Central Austin visual and performing arts organization has brought groundbreaking exhibitions, performances, and educational workshops to the city for forty-eight years.

Over its rich history, the organization has actively developed the careers of more than two thousand women artists. With free gallery admission, the welcoming space makes contemporary art accessible to everyone. Hosting more than fifty events a year, it remains a vibrant, evolving hub of creative energy.

As you continue your stroll, think about the thousands of women whose artistic journeys were launched right here, leaving an indelible mark on the cultural fabric of Texas.
