The name La Petite Grocery is a tribute to the building's past. In the late 1800s, this Creole-style cottage on Magazine Street was built by John B. Willig to provide the neighborhood with fresh produce, locally roasted coffee, and exotic teas.

While it reopened as a restaurant in 2004, managed by Justin Devillier and Mia Freiberger, the spirit of that old neighborhood shop remains. The concept is designed to evoke nostalgia for old New Orleans, blending a family-business feel with refined dining. It's a quiet nod to a time when the local grocery was the heart of the community, serving as a reminder that the city's culinary future is always anchored in its history.
