Beneath the soaring nave where a congregation once prayed, dancers now take the stage. This building on St. Ferdinand Street was rebuilt in 1853 as Holy Trinity Church, serving as a spiritual home for the German Catholic immigrants who lived in the Marigny.

Back then, the neighborhood was so densely populated by German families that it was popularly known as Little Saxony. For over a century, the church stood as a pillar of the community, but by 1997, dwindling attendance forced its doors to close. After being deconsecrated, the space waited for a new purpose.

In 2011, it was reborn as the Marigny Opera House. Now called a 'Church of the Arts,' it's a place where opera, ballet, and theater breathe new life into the old stone. It's a beautiful transition from a place of solemn prayer to a place of artistic expression, keeping the spirit of the community alive in a whole new way.
