The Mississippi Riverfront isn't just a shoreline; it's a living map of the city's heritage. For decades, these banks were lined with steamboats, and that river-oriented spirit still defines the area. If you stroll along the Moon Walk promenade, you're walking on a path constructed in 1975 and named after former Mayor Maurice Landrieu.
It served as a catalyst for the modern development you see today, from dockside dining to riverboat cruising. You might even spot the Spanish Plaza, a beautiful gift from Spain to New Orleans delivered in 1976. It's the perfect spot to feel the scale of the river and realize why this water has always been the city's greatest connection to the world.
