Langston Hughes was a giant of the Harlem Renaissance, and for the last twenty years of his life, he called 20 East 127th Street home. This Italianate-style house, built back in 1869, is now a museum where you can step into his world. Inside, a room displays his personal belongings, including the very typewriters he used to craft his poetry.

Designated as a New York City landmark in 1981, the house preserves the intimate space where one of America's most influential writers lived and worked from 1947 until 1967, keeping the spirit of the Renaissance alive for every visitor.
