Look up at the massive supports of the Manhattan Bridge in Dumbo, and you're looking at a piece of history from 1906. The Dumbo Archway was designed by Leon Moisseiff and built by The Phoenix Bridge Company. For decades, it served as a critical engineering link, with Water Street running right through it to connect warehouses to the waterfront.

It’s a space of staggering scale, featuring cathedral-like ceilings that reach 45 feet high. While it spent some time as a closed-off storage space in the 1980s, it was reimagined between 2008 and 2009 into a public plaza. It's a perfect example of how heavy industrial engineering can be repurposed into a community heart without losing its atmospheric power.
