At 253 West 125th Street, the Apollo Theater stands as a legendary landmark of Black American performance. Designed in a neoclassical style with about 1,500 seats, it's world-renowned for Amateur Night, where countless stars were discovered. For over four decades, the Apollo has been a leading entertainment center, hosting everything from plays and dance to iconic concerts.
Its facade and interior are recognized as New York City landmarks and are listed on the National Register of Historic Places. When you walk past, you're walking past the home of Showtime at the Apollo, a place where music and culture have converged for generations.
