Music and art often share the same goal: to educate and change the world. That was the driving force behind Cornell Capa, who founded the International Center of Photography in 1974. He wanted to champion concerned photography—images that were socially and politically engaged.
Starting in the historic Willard Straight House and now located in a unified center on Ludlow Street, the ICP has presented over 700 exhibitions. By combining a museum with a school, it creates an open forum for dialogue about the role of visual culture in our lives. It's a place where the world's most powerful images are not just displayed, but studied and questioned.
