At the intersection of Castro, Market, and 17th Streets, art is used to hold a heavy and necessary memory. The Pink Triangle Park and Memorial is the first LGBTQ+ Holocaust memorial in the United States. Formally dedicated on December 10, 2001, the site is composed of 15 granite pylons that honor the homosexual victims of Nazi persecution.

Beyond the sculpture, the memorial incorporates an interactive gesture where visitors can place a single stone as a sign of remembrance. It's a powerful example of how minimalist design—granite, space, and a simple pebble—can create a profound emotional experience, ensuring that history is not just read, but felt.
