There's a place in the Presidio where the city finally gives way to the wild Pacific. The Batteries to Bluffs Trail is a rugged zero-point-seven mile walk that descends from coastal bluffs straight down to the shore. As you walk, you'll pass historic gun batteries, like Battery Chamberlin, which still holds a cannon.
