What to know

Mbar was a premier rooftop bar and restaurant located on the 14th floor of the 400 Fairview building in South Lake Union. Opened in 2016 by Seattle restaurateurs Wassef and Racha Haroun, the venue spanned 2,800 square feet, with two-thirds of the space dedicated to an outdoor terrace and one-third kept indoors. This layout allowed guests to experience the city from an elevated perspective while enjoying a curated menu of global cuisine with Middle Eastern and Levantine influences. The terrace provided an expansive vista of the city, allowing visitors to see downtown Seattle, MoPop, the Seattle Center, and the Olympic Mountain Range. The view extended further to encompass Queen Anne Hill, South Lake Union, and North Capitol Hill, making it one of the most notable rooftop destinations in the city for nearly a decade. Known for its light, fresh, Mediterranean-inspired dishes and craft cocktails, Mbar served as a sophisticated social hub. The establishment was part of the Mama group, owned by the Haroun family, and maintained a reputation for blending elevated food with elevated views. After operating for approximately nine years, the business announced its closure in October 2025. Mbar served its final customers on Saturday, November 1, 2025, marking the end of an era for the Mama group's full-service restaurant operations.
