In the heart of the Chinatown-International District, there's a green sanctuary that started with a negotiation. In 1975, Asian American activists led by InterIm CDA approached a business owner named Danny Woo to convert his steep, undeveloped land into a community space. Together, they created a garden that would become a vital part of the neighborhood's fabric.

After his passing, the space was officially renamed the Danny Woo International District Community Garden in his honor. Today, it remains a free public space open from dawn until dusk, where the legacy of community activism is literally rooted in the soil. It's a quiet spot of reflection and growth amidst the bustle of the city.
