In the heart of the Chinatown-International District, there's a green sanctuary born from a bit of grit and negotiation. In 1975, Asian American activists worked with business owner Danny Woo to convert a piece of his steep, undeveloped land into a community garden. It wasn't just about planting vegetables; it was a statement of community presence and resilience.

After Danny Woo passed away, the garden was renamed in his honor as the Danny Woo International District Community Garden. Today, it remains a free public space, offering a quiet breath of air amidst the city bustle and serving as a living reminder of the activists who fought to create a green space for the neighborhood.
