From Grain to Glamour
The transformation of the historic grain silos into a modern destination.
Read the story
Who knew grain storage could be this iconic? Back in 1950, these towering silos were built as part of the Brazos Valley Cotton Oil Company. For decades, they served a purely industrial purpose, until they stopped being used for storage in the the 1990s.
But in 2015, they were reimagined. Chip and Joanna Gaines transformed these two 120-foot-high structures into the heart of a four-point-nine-acre destination. Now, instead of cotton seed, the grounds are filled with boutique shops, a bakery, and a Wiffle ball field.
It's a perfect example of how industrial architecture can be given a second life, turning a functional relic of the fifties into a global design draw.
