Think of the towering silos you see on the horizon. They've seen it all, and they've stood their ground. On May 11, 1953, a violent F5 tornado ripped through downtown Waco, leaving behind a massive amount of destruction and 114 deaths.
It was one of the city's deadliest storms, causing irreparable damage to the heart of the city. But while the downtown area was being torn apart, these silos remained standing. They stood firm through the wind and chaos with minimal damage, proving themselves to be an incredibly resilient structure.
Today, they're more than just industrial relics; they're a prominent Waco landmark that reminds us of the city's strength. As you keep walking, just look up at those concrete giants and remember that they didn't just survive the storm—they stayed standing while everything around them fell.
