Barracks Row is one of the oldest commercial districts in Washington, and it's easy to see why. Located on Capitol Hill's 8th Street SE, the area's identity is tied to the Marine Barracks, known as the Oldest Post of the Corps, established way back in 1801. The neighborhood has seen it all—from a decline after World War Two to the impact of the 1968 riots.
But over the last twenty years, it's been revitalized into a vibrant culinary and entertainment destination. Today, it's a stretch of five blocks connecting Navy Yard and Capitol Hill, where historic architecture meets a fresh, modern food scene.
