The National Museum of Women in the Arts was a pioneer when it was established in 1981, becoming the first museum in the world solely dedicated to championing women creators. But even a pioneer needs a refresh. In 2021, the museum embarked on a transformative sixty-six million dollar renovation to modernize its space and enhance how it presents its collection of over six thousand works.

When it reopened in October 2023, the museum didn't just have new walls—it had a renewed capacity to inspire. It's a great example of how urban renewal isn't just about buildings, but about evolving a space to better serve its mission in a changing world.
