Common questions

Location is not working

  1. Open the iOS Settings app, scroll to Gyde, tap Location, and confirm it is set to While Using the App with Precise Location enabled.
  2. Make sure your device has location services turned on globally in Settings > Privacy & Security > Location Services.
  3. Step outside or near a window. GPS accuracy is poor indoors and in deep urban canyons.
  4. Force-close the App and reopen it.
  5. If the problem persists, contact drewb97@gmail.com.

I don't see any stories near me

Gyde's content library is currently focused on selected cities, starting with Austin, Texas. If you are outside an area we have indexed, the map will show no stories. We are expanding coverage - let us know which city you would like to see next at drewb97@gmail.com.

Within a covered city, try zooming out or panning the map and tapping Search this area.

Audio won't play

  1. Check that your device is not on silent mode and the volume is up.
  2. If you are connected to Bluetooth audio, confirm the output device is correct.
  3. Reopen the App. If audio still does not play, try again on Wi-Fi - audio files are streamed.
  4. If the issue continues, email us with a screenshot of the affected story.

How do I sign out or change accounts?

Tap the account icon in the top right of the map, then choose Log out. You can then sign in again with a different account.

How do I delete my account?

You can request deletion directly in the App, or by email. See the full instructions on the Account Deletion page.

I think a fact or photo is wrong

Most of our content comes from open data sources such as Wikidata, OpenStreetMap, and Wikimedia Commons. We will gladly remove or correct content on request. Email drewb97@gmail.com with the story or place name and the issue.
